Four Ashes Flowers

Welcome to Four Ashes Flowers.  Four Ashes Flowers are part of Four Ashes Estate, based at Four Ashes Hall.

Four Ashes Hall has a walled kitchen garden which used to feed the family and estate workers.  We are beginning a restoration project, turning the vegetable beds into cut flower beds to sell flowers to the public, florists and wedding venues.  We will be holding an open day this year with afternoon tea.  This will give people an opportunity to see what we are trying to achieve.

We hope you will become part of our journey to restore the gardens and will be writing a blog so you can follow the ups and downs of our project.

Summer 2025 - Flowers in Bloom

This summer the flower beds are in full bloom.

2024

In 2024 we decided to turn the walled kitchen garden into flower beds for a commercial cut flower garden.  We started with one of the squares last year and are making long slightly raised beds.  The first one completed was filled with green annuals and fillers.

The second we planted dahlias.

All raised beds completed.  We have not cleared the green annual and filler bed yet.  We have left it to protect the bed from frosts.  The second bed has dahlias and the third has Lillies.

The new shoots are coming through in the new narcissus bed.

2023

In spring of 2023 we split up some iris that were over running another area and planted them in a line down the border.  In spring 2024 they flowered!

2020

We started with the border at the top of the kitchen garden.  This was started 5 years ago and is an on going project.  The border was filled with bindweed, ground elder, brambles, nettles, ivy and many more weeds.  It took 4 years to get to the end of the border.  Most of the weeds have gone but it is an ongoing issue.
